Armored Warriors, released by Capcom in 1994, is a side-scrolling beat 'em up on steroids. Think Final Fight or Streets of Rage, but instead of controlling puny humans, you're piloting customizable mechs called "Variant Armor Equipment" (VAE) or "Powered Gears" in the Japanese version.

Forget just punching and kicking! This game throws you into gigantic robotic brawls against waves of enemy mechs, tanks, and aircraft. The action is fast-paced, explosive, and utterly ridiculous in the best way possible. You can rip off enemy parts (arms, legs, weapons, even entire bodies!) and attach them to your own mech on the fly, creating ridiculous combinations and giving you access to a huge array of attacks.
